My 10 day California adventure begins and ends in one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited: San Diego. Home of the largest zoo, the most beautiful scenery, and of course my bestfriend Lucy Busby. Lucy and I met in college at Indiana University where we instantly bonded over our love for adventure, laughter, and Cool Ranch Doritos. After an entire year apart after graduation, I owed her a much needed visit. (Shout out to the Busby family for making this blog post possible!)
Much unlike Milwaukee, San Diego is full of canyons, hills, and tons of beautiful succulents! If you are a cactus junkie like me, this is the place to visit! Lucy’s house is located in Solana Beach, just North of Del Mar. On my first day, we went to Fiesta Del Sol where there were tons of vendors and local shops set up under tents selling jewelry, food, and clothes. There were also several different bands performing and lots of carnival rides set up all in the heart of Solana Beach!

My second day was spent entirely at the Zoo, and trust me, you definitely need an entire day to visit this zoo! The San Diego Zoo is the largest in the world and is home to so many different exotic animals. I recommend the Bus Tour and the Skyfari.

Torrey Pines State Reserve
I’m not much of a hiker, but the Torrey Pines State Reserve was one of my absolute favorite places to visit. We spent all day hiking and overlooking the ocean. The pictures just don’t do it justice.
Stay tuned for more upcoming posts on my So Cal adventures! Up next: Pit stop in Santa Monica and Venice Beach!
